ICGBEP Credential
The AI governance credential that certifies what practitioners produce — diagnosing how far a business's AI-coordinated operations are running below their performance ceiling, and governing the path to close it. Issued under the GBE Standard. Verifiable at verify.theicon.ai.
A Certified GBE Practitioner enters any client environment and produces a measurable output: diagnosing how far the business's AI-coordinated operations are running below their performance ceiling, governing the remediation that closes the gap, and maintaining the ongoing advisory relationship that keeps the business owner directing the output — not chasing it.
The credential does not certify understanding of AI concepts. It certifies tradecraft — the ability to score a business's governance posture, identify what is blocking performance, and structure the remediation path that raises the ceiling.
The GBE Standard — the AI governance framework developed by ICON that defines the performance ceiling for AI-coordinated business operations. It is built on four pillars, each addressing a dimension of governed coordination: governance architecture, sovereignty, evidence, and transparency. The ICGBEP certifies implementation of Pillars 1–3.
AI-coordinated operations have a measurable maximum output when fully governed. Most businesses are running below this ceiling because the coordination layer — the governance of what each AI tool is authorized to do, what it produced, and why — is ungoverned. The performance ceiling is the output that governed coordination produces. The gap between the ceiling and where the business is currently operating is what the Certified GBE Practitioner diagnoses and closes.
The ICGBEP program consists of 42 modules, delivered entirely online and self-paced. There is no cohort schedule. You progress at your own speed. When you pass the ICGBEP exam, your credential is issued and publicly listed at verify.theicon.ai within 24 hours.
The ICGBEP certifies professional judgment and advisory tradecraft — not engineering background. Practitioners already certified came from consulting, accounting, operations management, coaching, and advisory roles. The GBE Standard is the technical specification. The credential certifies you to apply it in the field.
Every ICON credential is publicly verifiable at verify.theicon.ai — searchable by name, credential ID, or status. Active, Lapsed, or Revoked. No login required. The practitioners listed below are real, active, and producing measurable outputs for their clients.
After completing the ICGBEP, practitioners who govern active AI-coordinated entities at their performance ceiling in real time may pursue the ICBOSP — the Business OS Specialization. ICBOSP certifies Pillar 4 governance: maintaining the ceiling as a living operational system.
